3rd General Assembly concludes; new President elected  

15th July 2002, Kathmandu

 

The 3rd general assembly of MMSA was held on the 13th of July at Hotel Ambassador, Katmandu, Nepal. The meeting was presided by the acting president Mr. Mohamed Ismail (Vice-president of MMSA). The meeting concluded successfully with the election of a new president for MMSA. Dr. Zumra Latheef was elected with  93.75 % of the votes from the sixteen members who attended the meeting. Discussions were taken up by the members regarding the events and activities to be carried out by the 2nd Executive Body for this year.

 

MMSA President resigns  

26th June 2002, Katmandu

 

The President of MMSA Dr. Ali Shafeeg has resigned from office due to 'personal' reasons. As per the constitution, the vice-president Mr. Mohamed Ismail will bear the responsibilities of the President till a new president is elected in upcoming by-elections. MMSA has called for interested persons wiling to compete as candidates for the post of president.

 

Minister of Health meets Maldivians in Katmandu, Nepal

The Minister of Health of Maldives, Ahmed Abdulla met with the Maldivian students and families in Katmandu today, at a lunch hosted by the Minister at Hotel Radisson. The Minster, who was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Ameena Abdulla and  Mr. Ibrahim Shaheem of Department of Public Health,  arrived here on the 5th of June, on an official visit to this region as the Chairman of the WHO-SEA region.

 

 

Minister of Health Officially launches the website of MMSA

The website of the Maldivian Medical Students' Association was officially launched by the Minister of Health, Ahmed Abdulla today at a lunch hosted by the Minister for the Maldivian students in Katmandu. The Minister also accepted the request by the MMSA to become an advisor for the Association.

 

 

MMSA takes part in World No Tobacco Day rally  

31st May 2002, Katmandu, Nepal

 

Members of the Maldivian Medical Students' Association participated in a rally organized by the Ministry of Health, Nepal, to mark the World No-Tobacco Day. The rally which was held on Friday 31st of May began at 8:00 in the morning from the Ministry of Health of Nepal. Government officials, members from different institutions, college and school children took part in this rally carrying banners of this year's theme.

 The Theme for this year's World No-Tobacco Day was " Tobacco Free Sports: Play It Clean!"
